Michela Moscufo, Independent Journalist. New York City

Hi there! I’m an independent journalist based in New York City who covers politics, race, culture and social justice for outlets including The Guardian, Reuters, Al Jazeera and NBC News.
For the past few years, I have focused my reporting on the national and global reparations movement. For a sample, you can read a cover story I wrote for The Nation magazine: How a Royal Visit Helped Weaken the Crown’s Grip on the Caribbean, or a recent feature I wrote for Reuters: Reparations measures stall across US, but advocates undeterred.
I’ve worked as a multimedia reporter for ABC News, covered small businesses during the pandemic for Forbes, and worked as an intern in the Business, Media and Technology unit of NBC News.
I graduated from the Columbia Journalism School in 2021, and my Masters’ thesis about crowdfunded reparations programs during the pandemic was published by NBC News: White people are Venmoing Black people money. They call it 'reparations.'
Before becoming a journalist I worked on the production and development teams of an arts journal, The Brooklyn Rail, and was an assistant at the U.S. Pavilion of the 2017 Venice Biennale.
